When her parents decide to separate, sixteen-year-old Anna Brooks, a narcoleptic, is sent to spend the summer in a small coastal town with her aunt and uncle, who hold some very antiquated values. Suffering traumatic hallucinations, Anna witnesses several bizarre incidents involving the townspeople, creating palpable feelings of paranoia and anxiety, leaving Anna unsure of who to turn to for help.
